Quick Play Rules
To speed up the game we came up with these house rules:
* Starting HPMax 15 (enough to move fast but not enough to jump across the rivers)
* +1 Attack and +1 Defence
* 700 gold
* Start at Sorcerer level (no need to sacrifice items but still need to visit the Magic School. Alternatively you can skip the Magic School but i recommend keeping it in otherwise you can cast lvl 4 – 6 spells immediately)
* Remove the card “Charity” from the road deck (i personally sacrificed mine to the Five Winds)
* Each monster killed will also give you a bonus 50 gold
* Your full “Shard Belt” cannot be stolen or destroyed (but the shards inside can)
* Remove the PvP (player vs player) aspect. This keeps the game wife/girlfriend friendly. Some of the spells are quite harsh from the Swamp. They have the ability to remove friendships. (Alternatively the pvp is quite fun and you may need to make your own rules for some spells EG instead of destroy items they lock the item out for D6 turns etc)
Other cards i removed were the Witch in the Swamp Deck that gives you the ability to basically make any land type a road. You ALWAYS pick water and you will win 102% of the time.
There’s a card in the road deck which lowers HPMax by 6. Remove. Burn. Remember how to smile again.
I recommend playing this game in all its 10+ hour glory. Find some like minded people (not friends because they wont all be by the end of the game – “i can’t believe you destroyed my full shard belt!) and make a day of it, but the rules above will make it into a 2 hour game. (or less with the witch).
